Brian SchoenbaechlerBrian Schoenbaechler was born November 10, 1971 in Louisville, KY to Richard J. Schoenbaechler and Michelle Schoenbaechler. He lived in Louisville until 1984 when his father went to work for Addison-Wesley as a Regional Manager in Atlanta, GA. Brian attended Lassiter High School in Marietta, GA where he excelled athletically and academically. Upon completion of high school, he was given the opportunity to attend the United States Military Academy Preparatory School in Fort Monmouth, NJ. Brian played football and lacrosse at the Prep School and earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. After four rigorous years, Brian graduated from West Point with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and Engineering. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the Transportation Corps and attended his Officer Basic Course at Fort Eustis, VA. His first duty assignment was in Wiesbaden, Germany as a member of the 1st Armor Division. Brian arrived at his first assignment to find his unit had been deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor . After several weeks of pre-deployment training, he joined his unit in Lukavac, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The twelve-month deployment taught him many of life’s lessons. After another year and a half in Germany, Brian decided to leave the military life and join corporate America.

Brian’s first corporate employer was Varco International. Varco manufactures equipment for the energy services industry. As a field operations manager in a new business unit at Varco, Brian was able to build a team of Service Engineers to install and maintain Varco equipment rented to oil drilling contractors all over the world. In May 1999, he accepted an opportunity to go to work for General Motors as a Quality Engineer on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Truck Line. It was in Detroit that he met Amie Krol. On August 5, 2001 Brian proposed to Amie in front of the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, MI. Several months before, he and his father began discussing the possibility of Brian moving back to Atlanta and working for Southern Book Company.

On September 10, 2001, Brian began his career in Fulfillment and Distribution.  He started working as the Georgia Operations Manager with responsibility over Southern Book Company’s Information Technology Infrastructure. Then on July 6, 2002, he and Amie were married at West Point, NY in a beautiful ceremony.

In December of 2006, Brian graduated from Georgia State University with a Master in Business Administration with a major in Entrepreneurship.  He complete his graduate degree while working full time and taking classes part time in the evenings.

January 1, 2007, Dick Schoenbaechler retired from Southern Book Company and appointed Brian as the new President.

He now lives in Douglasville, GA with Amie and Pancake.
